Holy Crap! At l’Estaminet and this Roussillon Domaine des Schistes just gave me goose bumps. Never had a wine w/so much flavor of red meat! #

Tonight on the way home, Mat had some trouble with her Velib. #
Waiting in front of a bar called Les Parigots, I noticed a bunch of glasses on the ground across the street. #
To the guy taking out the trash, I say, “Hey! This your bar?” “Yes.” “I think you got some glasses over here.” All in French, natch. #
“Thank you my man.” he says, in English, crossing the street and collecting then with two hands in one swoop. A proper barman. #
“Eh, it’s some money,” I say in French. He thanks me and goes back into the bar. #
A minute later he comes back with two shotglasses, in the fingers of one hand, again like a proper barman. We down them. #
Clear, but tasted like an orchard. “Calva?” knowing I was wrong.
“Non, poire.”
“My favorite.” #
It was the most civilized thing I’ve experienced in a while. #
I’m between sheets before the birds are out, but the light is turning. And I hate to hear neighbors getting up when I’m going to bed. Night! #
