Kanye West: Back in Action

An article about Kanye West published on Squirrel Machine suggests that the superstar is back in a big way—his performance at the 2011 Coachella Music Festival reminded fans and critics alike why everyone fell for West in the first place. On Webfetti, there’s a picture of Kanye West decked out in shutter shades and bling, typical style for today’s rappers. But the Webfetti version of West isn’t the version that took the stage last Sunday night to perform the headlining set of the weekend-long music festival in Indio, Calif., according to Squirrel Machine. West skipped the elaborate stage design that usually accompanies him on tour, as well as the big-name special guests, squashing rumors that Jay-Z, Rihanna or Nicki Minaj would be joining him for a song. Instead, he performed a relatively minimal show with incredible energy and passion, even tearing up when he dedicated the show to his late mother.

West, who faced scrutiny after storming the stage in opposition of Taylor Swift’s win at the VMAs, has had a hard time coming back into the spotlight for music-related news. Last fall, he made a short film set to the soundtrack of his latest album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.” The film received rave reviews, as did his performance at Coachella, and it looks like the rapper is quickly on his way out of the doghouse.
